Bevel Gear Drives
To drive one or more shafts which don't line-up with the output shaft, a
kind of transmission is used. Bevel Gear Drive is such type of transmission
provider. Therefore, Bevel Gear Drive is also called as Bevel Transmission.
Capability of handling heavy loads and generating higher torque feature are
found in these type of gear drives. The engine power can be smoothly
transmitted onto the main clutch pulley by bevel Gear Drives. Loading of the
power band is absorbed by bevel gear drives and this quality has enabled
these gear drives to use a short power band. By flanging some special types
of pumps to a new carrier housing, more reliability can be added in the
bevel gear Drives. These special type of pumps are:
- Short power band, hydrostatic drive pump
- Hydraulic infinitely variable length of cut-pump
- Hydrostatic drive pump
Transmission of belt tension loading is not permitted in bevel Gear
Drive to the engine crankshaft. This enables a longer trouble free engine
service life of the bevel gear drive. The other advantages are:
- No requirements of belt and chain drive.
- Minimum maintenance is required.
- No wear and tear is occurred there.
Applications of Bevel Gear Drives

There
are several fields, where the Bevel Drives are considered very important.
Some of these fields are as follows:
- Specialty machinery
- Textile machinery
- Material handling equipment
- Packaging equipment
- Farm industry machinery
Reversing of a Bevel Gear Drives
An oil sump, double wall apron allows an operator to reverse the Twin Bevel
Gear Drive instantly, if this drive is fitted with it and to the surfacing
feeds and to the power sliding. For reversing the drive, the operator
doesn't require to stop the headstock spindle of the gear drive.
