Gear Milling
Milling is a typical form-cutting process. In a gear making process it is
restricted to making only single gears. It is used for small batches of
gears as the process is not very economical and fast. An involute
form-milling cutter, having the profile of space between the gears, is
applied for eliminating the matter. The matter that is placed between the
teeth of a gear blank is removed by the milling machine. A simple milling
operation is illustrated here.
Gear Milling Machines
Gear-milling machine guarantees high quality and a very quick processing
time. Some of the technical parameters on which a Gear-milling machine needs
to be checked are as follows:
- Gear hobbing diameter
- Maximum modulus gear hobbing
- Quality of Gear hobbing
- Maximum gearing width
- Table load
- Distance between centres
