Industries Served
Sugar Industry
Sugar industry is a major agricultural industry involved in the production
and processing of sugar. The sugar industry requires different types of
machinery and other industrial equipments in the sugar making process. These
machines in turn make use of different types of gears, gear drives and
gearboxes for efficient, smooth and noiseless functioning. The precision
gears and gear boxes vary in torque capacity and gear ratios and they are
used for the transmission of power. They can either be foot or flange
mounted. The most popular gears used are
helical
gears, double helical gears, planetary gears etc. These gears are
available in variety of sizes, designs, configurations and installations for
use in different processes in the sugar industry.
Stamping Presses
Stamping Presses are tools that use stamping dies and are used for cutting
tiles, gaskets, textiles and other materials. Available in different styles,
sizes & specifications, stamping presses are used in various automotive &
non-automotive applications. There are number of improvements to stamping
presses as technology has made presses more safer, efficient, and easier to
use. Gears are widely used in transmission of motion and torque in stamping
presses. Gears are used to change speeds of the presses. Differing
requirements of parts that ran at different strokes gave rise to use varied
gear drives . Early press modifications were formed with makeshift
gearboxes. Later, variable, cone-type speed gear drives allowed the press to
be turned to the desired speed. Mechanical gearboxes allowed for variation
of speed. Today, a stamping press can be converted from one type of gear
drive to a variable-speed gear drive, which allows for full torque at any
speed. Gears used in this industry are characterized by low maintenance
costs, high performance, and low energy consumption.
Surface Mining Industry
Surface mining industry is an industry which involves the mining
activities. In the surface mining process the soil and rocks that got
accumulated over the mineral deposits over the period of time are removed
with the help of advanced and sophisticated machines and earthmoving
equipment. This industry is called surface mining industry because it deals
with the activities involving slight mining of the earth's surface for
acquiring useful and valuable minerals, which is not the case in the
underground mining. In underground mining the earth is dug deep into its
surface and use of shafts and tunnels is made. Surface mining is employed in
the areas with low overburden. Gears have their own importance in the
surface mining industry. Much equipment that is considered indispensable for
surface mining like mechanical shovels, excavators,
conveyor
systems, etc. make use of various types of gears and gearing
equipment. Also, geared motors are widely used in surface mining.
Petrochemical Industry
Petrochemical industry deals with the production of various chemicals by
using oil and natural gas as raw materials. The oil and natural gas which
are used for the production of chemicals are composed of hydrocarbons.
Petrochemicals can be easily converted into numerous commercial or
industrial, and domestic use products like plastic, paints, rubber,
detergents, dyes, and so. This shows the significance of the petrochemical
industry. But, for the proper functioning of the petrochemical industry the
use of gears is inevitable. The industrial machineries that are used in the
petrochemical industry make use of various types of gears and gearboxes.
Following are some types of gears which commonly found their application in
the petrochemical industry:
- Ground Gears
- Helical Gears
- Segment Gears
- Spur Gears
- Precision Gears, etc.
Sponge Iron Industry
Also known as direct reduced iron, sponge iron is a kind of iron that is
produced as a result of reduction in the iron ore into metallic iron. This
reduction usually takes place in the presence of a particular type of carbon
(like charcoal, etc.), at a temperature which is below iron's melting point.
Sponge iron, which consists a blend of incandescent wrought iron and slag,
is the outcome of this process. Sponge iron is also known as Directly
Reduced Iron (DRI). The process through which this iron is produced is
sometimes known as DRI process. First DRI plant was set up in 1957 in
Mexico, and since then the sponge iron industry has witnessed a continuous
growth. The constant growth of this industry at a uniform rate for such a
long period is attributed to the widespread usage of sponge iron in electric
arc furnaces, partly substituting scrap, and in steel manufacturing
processes. Girth gears are considered very significant for the sponge iron
industry. This gear is a vital component for the equipment like kilns and
coolers that constitute the primary equipment in any sponge iron plant.
Material Handling Industry
Materials handling industry is an industry with a very wide scope. This
industry deals with the activities like movement, storage, control,
protection, distribution, etc. of materials. You can say that all the works
related to logistics come under its scope. For carrying on all these
activities a lot of mechanical equipment, systems, and related controls are
employed. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Bureau of Labor
Statistics, materials handling industry is emerging as one of the largest
and fastest growing industries of America. In America, more than $156
billion of material handling and logistics equipment are consumed per year.
Material handling systems range from the conventional pallet rack to the
contemporary conveyor belts and automated storage and retrieval
systems(AS/RS). Various types of gears and gearing equipment are required
for the functioning of the advanced machines that are used in the modern
materials handling plants. Some significant types of gears used in the
materials handling industry are helical gears, planetary gears, pinion
gears, ground gears, etc. The primary sectors that employ the material
handling equipment are fertilizer, cement, coal/power generation, and steel
plants.
Earthmoving Industry
Earthmoving industry includes all the jobs associated with the earthmoving
sector. Earthmoving industry is of great relevance in the 21st century, when
construction and other processes are going on everywhere. The advanced
earthmoving equipment can perform such jobs that one can't even imagine.
Nowadays, these equipment are widely used in the construction of roads,
underpasses, flyovers, bridges, runways, buildings, and many more. Any big
construction activity seems almost impossible without the aid of these
equipment. Some of the earthmoving equipment include articulated trucks,
augers, backhoes, conveyors, crawler dozers, crushers, grinders, rippers,
scrappers, and so. These sophisticated and advanced earthmoving equipment
and vehicles work with the help of heavy duty industrial gears. The gears
used in the earthmoving equipment usually comprise cylindrical pith surface
that have teeth parallel to the axis. The mostly used gears in the
earthmoving equipment are spur, helical, and planetary gears.
